Yoon Sun Choi, born in South Korea, raised in Canada and now a New York-based improvising vocalist and pianist using her vocal prowess that transitions effortlessly from resonant, haunting melodies to deep, resonant wails. Yoon has made significant contributions to the music scene over her twenty-year-long career performing and collaborating with esteemed artists including Mark Dresser, Darius Jones, Jacob Sacks, and Kenny Wheeler, on prestigious stages such as The Blue Note, Birdland, and Carnegie Hall.
Lesley Mok is a percussionist and interdisciplinary artist who works in sound, installation, film, and theater. Interested in the ways social conditions shape our beings, Lesley’s work focuses on overacting humanness to explore ideas about alienness and privilege. Their work draws from queer and feminist art practices, Chinese philosophy, Caribbean folkloric musical traditions, futurist perspectives, and ancestral knowledge. Their ongoing explorations with composition and improvisation are most notably documented in their ten-piece improvising chamber ensemble, The Living Collection (American Dreams Records).
Shayna Dulberger has been an active Bassist in New York City since 2001. She has played in many ensembles including those led by William Parker, Jessica Pavone and Elliot Sharp. Dulberger’s projects include but are not limited to: Chaser, Dromedaries, Warrior of Light and The High Standards. She has an extensive discography of improvised, experimental, noise, free jazz, rock, and contemporary classical music. Shayna has collaborated with visual artists, choreographers, poets and writers for NYC’s Kweli Journal and the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive. In 2019, Shayna received a Jerome Foundation funded residency at Roulette in Brooklyn, NY. Marta is a piano player and composer from Spain. Her music has received great praise, being two of her records selected by The New York Times as one of the 10 best albums of 2015 and Best 10 jazz albums of 2019. Her records have been reviewed at The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, DownBeat, WBGO, among many others. She has toured around the world, performing at prestigious festivals such as the Eurojazz in Mexico, Eurojazz in Athens, Vitoria Gasteiz, Winter Jazz Festival, and Madrid Jazz Festival. In 2017 and 2021 she was granted a residency at MacDowell Colony.
