Yoon Sun Choi is a Korean-born, Canadian-raised, now American improvisational vocalist and pianist based in New York City since 2000. She is renowned for her versatile performances in a duo with Jacob Sacks, solo voice/piano work, her quartet, and as part of the Sarah Weaver ensemble. Choi's collaborations span across jazz luminaries such as Jane Ira Bloom, Steve Coleman, Kenny Wheeler, gracing stages from The Blue Note to Carnegie Hall. She holds BMus degrees in both classical piano/composition and voice/jazz performance from Queen’s University and the University of Toronto, respectively. Choi's artistry is marked by a blend of innovation and tradition, making her a distinguished figure in the jazz world.
